Online Classes Started in Various School and Colleges in Pokhara:
Due to the lockdown, various schools and campuses in Pokhara have started teaching online. He said that the lockdown has affected the students' reading and psychology as well. Prithvi Narayan Campus, the largest campus in Nepal, has started online education.
More than 12,000 students are studying on the campus and the classes run under the semester system are being taught online, said Campus Chief Nandlal Adhikari. The official said that the online class was started after consulting with the campus head, departmental head, and senior staff as the long-term lockdown could not complete the scheduled course on time and could have a psychological impact on them. According to him, classes under the faculties of management, humanities, education and science and technology have been started through Zoom Technology. Chief of the Department of Regional Management, Bishnu Prasad Bhandari, informed that instructions have come from the central office of Tribhuvan University for conducting online classes.
Sainik Residential School at Phulbari, Pokhara-11 is also conducting online education. Teacher Upendra Poudel informed that this school has started teaching students from class 7 to 12 from Google classroom. "We are teaching about 1,200 students by interacting online," he said. According to him, special emphasis has been given to 10th class students in preparation for SEE.
Similarly, Nepal Tourism and Hotel Management College, Pokhara, Chhinedanda, Pokhara are also teaching students online, said Prakash Regmi, Principal of the college. He said that the online class has been conducted so as not to have any psychological impact on the students and to continue their reading habits. "Long-term lockdowns can affect students' learning," said Regmi. We are preparing to conduct additional subjects by giving training to the course. ”
Motherland Secondary School, Masbar, Pokhara is also teaching students of class 10, 11, and 12 online through Zoom software and Google Classroom, said Tribhuvan Sharma, director of the school. He said that nine subjects are being taught daily from three subjects in the online class which was started on 13th Chaitra. According to him, more than 80 students are participating in the same class and non-school students are also participating.
According to the school, Kumudini Homes in Gairapatan, Pokhara has also trained teachers to conduct online classes. Former Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology, Pokhara University, Buddhiraj Joshi informed that Pokhara University is preparing to conduct online classes for postgraduate engineering students.
The Kaski District Committee of the Nepal National Teachers Association has also included teachers in online courses on what students and teachers will look like in the 21st century. Chairman of the district committee Rom Harshan Poudel informed that the teachers are developing the model by preparing the material online. He said that the organization has been conducting special courses for teachers online for 20 days.
Prem Sharma, president of the Private and Residential Schools Organization Nepal (PABSON) Kaski, said that the one-and-a-half-month leave would not have much effect but if there was more delay, alternatives would be sought. He said, "We can manage the one-and-a-half month bandh. If it increases now, we are looking for alternatives to provide effective education to the students."
