Instructions issued by the Nepal Telecommunication Authority to the mobile service providers regarding the sale and distribution of SIM cards
While mobile service providers are distributing SIM cards by themselves or through designated authorized dealers, a copy of one person's identity card has been obtained by another person and unauthorized access to another person's mobile number has been made on banking services, email services, social networks including Facebook and other digital services and data. From now on, when selling and distributing SIM cards and providing new SIM cards in case of lost or damaged ones, the customer must be present in person. Instructions have been issued to all the mobile service providers concerned to verify the copy with, check the form filled by the customer, and provide SIM card only to the person who has inherited or brought in the authority as per the law in case the customer is not present in person. Also, in case of non-compliance with the instructions issued by NEA during the inspection and investigation, action will be taken as per the Telecommunications Act, 2053 BS.
