This year's Nobel Prize for Economics has been jointly awarded to three economics scientists. Abhijit Banerjee, Esther Duflo, and Michael Kramer were awarded the Nobel Prize for their efforts to reduce poverty.
The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, which awarded the award after the announcement, said the work done by all three scientists has greatly improved the fight against poverty. All three will receive about nine million US dollars. Esther Duflo is the second woman to win a Nobel Prize in economics since the first debuted in 1969. He is the youngest award recipient to receive the award at the age of 46.
Banerjee's study has directly benefited India's 5 million disabled children's schooling by improving their education.
