The government of Nepal has made some recent announcements. According to a statement made by Rekha Sharma, the Minister of Communication and Information Technology, during a cabinet meeting held on Thursday (16th Feb 2023), it has been decided to add two new public holidays to the calendar. The new holidays are Prithvi Jayanti on 27th Poush and Jan Yuddh Day on 1st Phalgun. These holidays will be added to the list of public holidays already given by the government. However, as the calendar for the year 2080 has already been printed, the review of public holidays for subsequent years will not be completed until August. The Minister also announced that the holiday had been organized.
Furthermore, the government has withdrawn the Constitutional Council (Works, Duties, Rights, and Procedures) (First Amendment) Bill, 2079. Additionally, the government has declared four industrial villages in eight places, namely Nepal Gazette, Mandan Deupur-6, Bethanchok-2, Likhu-4, Raghuganga-2, Tatopani-4, Ribdikot-3, and Rurukshetra-4. The government has also decided to provide relief for items destroyed during the control of bird flu disease in the financial year 2079-80 in accordance with the existing laws.
Finally, the government has approved the delegation led by the foreign minister to participate in the 52nd session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland from 15th to 18th of Phalgun.
