New Curriculum of Classes 5, 8, and 10 to be Implemented from 2080 BS

From the next academic session 2080, classes 5, 8, and 10 will be taught according to the new curriculum. Curriculum Development Center said that work is being done to change the curriculum.

According to Baikuntha Prasad Aryal, Director General of the Curriculum Development Center, under which the preparation of the syllabus for classes 5 and 10 has been completed and the preparation of the syllabus for class 8 is in progress.

He said, "From the next academic session, classes 5, 8, and 10 will be taught according to the new curriculum." The Curriculum Development Center is working for this. Syllabus of class 5 and 10 has been prepared. Now we are preparing the blueprint for class 8.

After sending the 'print ready copy' of the new textbook to Janak Shiksha Samagri Kendra, the center will print it. He said that the print ready copy of class 5 has been sent to Janak Shiksha Material Center.

Last year, classes 4, 7 and 9 have started based on the new curriculum. In the coming year 2080, the students who will take the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) will have to take the examination based on the new syllabus. But the students who will give the SEE of the year 2079 will take the exam based on the old syllabus.

The government had earlier planned to implement the new curriculum in all classes of the school level by 2080. Director General of Curriculum Development Center Aryal said that the new curriculum has been implemented based on this plan of the government.

English, Nepali, Mathematics, Science and Social Subjects and English, Nepali, Mathematics, Science, Social and Health and Physical Subjects for Class 5 will be new subjects under the compulsory subjects of Class 8 and 10.

According to the global rules, there is a provision to review the curriculum of textbooks every five years and to change the curriculum itself every 10 years. Previously, the curriculum was changed in 10 years of some classes and in 13 years of others. After 2063, the curriculum was changed only in 2076.

According to the 'National Curriculum Format' 2076, there is a plan to change the curriculum of all classes of the school level by 2080. Only in 2077, the syllabus of class 1 and 11 was changed. In 2078, the syllabus of classes 2, 3 and 12 was changed and implemented. Similarly, from the new academic session of the year 2079, the new curriculum has been implemented in classes 4, 7 and 9.
