Nepali Airlines Made Public a Flight Schedule for the Rescue of Nepalese Stranded Abroad:
Nepal Airlines Corporation and Himalayan Airlines, two airlines of Nepal, have made public the flight schedule for the rescue of Nepalis stranded abroad. Nepali Airlines has made a flight schedule till August 8 for the fourth phase of rescue flight from July 31.
According to the rescue flight schedule prepared by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Nepal Airlines will operate a total of 18 flights by August 8. The airline will operate flights to Dubai in the UAE, Doha in Qatar, Dammam and Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, and Narita in Japan. The Himalayas will also operate a total of 18 flights from July 30 to August 7. It will operate chartered flights to Kunming, Doha, Abu Dhabi, Kuala Lumpur, and Damascus, China.
How many flights of which airlines?
Nepal Airlines will fly to Japan and Kuwait on July 31. Kuala Lumpur and Qatar on August 1, Jeddah and Dubai on August 2, Australia, and Qatar on August 3, Dubai, and Qatar on August 4, Riyadh, and Dammam on August 5, Riyadh and Dubai on August 6, Riyadh and Dammam on August 7. And on August 8, chartered flights to Jeddah and Dubai.
The Himalayas will make two flights to Kuwait on July 30 and August 1. The only flight will be to Kunming, China on July 31. The Himalayas, which will fly to Doha on July 31 and August 3, will have chartered flights to Abu Dhabi on July 31, August 1, 2, 3, and 4. Similarly, flights will be operated to Kuala Lumpur on August 2, 3, 6, and 7 and to Dammam on August 4, 5, 6, and 7, the Himalayas said in a statement.
Foreign airlines will also operate chartered flights from July 31 to August 8 to rescue Nepalis. Jazeera Air will fly to Kuwait, Etihad Air to Abu Dhabi, Air Arabia to Sharjah, Fly Dubai to Dubai, and Qatar Airways to Doha. In the same period, Malindo Air will continue to charter from Kuala Lumpur.
Earlier, Nepal Airlines had flown a rescue flight from June 11. The second time was on July 12 and the third time was on July 21. The Himalayas had chartered rescue flights from June 16 to July 12 and July 21.
The government had decided to repatriate Nepali nationals living in third countries by giving priority to them. As per the decision of COVID-19 Crisis Management Center (CCMC), Nepalis have been repatriated at different stages. So far, more than 35,000 Nepalis have returned home. The government has already decided to start domestic and international commercial flights from September 20. The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has stated that only one-third of the regular flights will take place after five months of closure.
