Nepalese Students Seek Higher Education Abroad: Increasing Trend of No-Objection Certificates (NOCs) Issued"
The number of Nepalese students seeking higher education abroad has been increasing over the years. Many students view studying abroad as a pathway to better employment prospects and a higher quality of education.
Rising number of No-Objection Certificates issued
According to the foreign study permit (No-Objection Certificate) branch under the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, the number of people receiving no-objection certificates has increased significantly. From July/August 2022 to January 2023, 45,912 Nepalese students received no objection certificates. This is a significant increase from the 114,000 students who received such documents in the last financial year 2078/79.
Top destinations for Nepalese students
In January-February 2023 alone, 7,618 Nepalese students received no objection certificates, with the majority applying to study in Australia and Canada. Of the total, 3,517 students applied for Australia, 2,248 for Canada, 596 for Korea, and 352 for Britain.
