A nationwide mask distribution campaign has been intensified to prevent and reduce the risk of Covid-19 infection. In the last 24 hours alone, 65,869 people have been given free masks under the program 'Tapaiko Mask Khai?' Run by Nepal Police. According to the Police Headquarters, masks have been distributed to 74,376 people since April 20.

Senior Superintendent of Police Basanta Bahadur Kunwar said that the campaign has been made effective again to make the implementation of the prescribed health safety standards effective in view of the increasing number of infections of Covid-19 with new variants.

"Police are conducting various awareness programs in all 77 districts with the slogan 'Let's save ourselves and save others from the infection'. The government has urged citizens to be vigilant across the country amid warnings that a third variant could come with the recent rise of Covid-19.

Earlier, during the second wave of Corona, Nepal Police had distributed masks as part of the campaign. The campaign has been intensified as the distribution of masks has not been effective in recent times as the infection has been declining. The government of Nepal has also announced the 'Nepal Mask Campaign' only on Saturday to motivate those who do not wear the right Rumpa mask and those who do not.
