Nepal Oil Corporation Announces Reduction in Petroleum Product Prices
Kathmandu, October 15, 2023 - In a significant move that is set to benefit consumers, the Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has announced a price cut for petroleum products. Effective from 1:00 AM on 16th October 2023 (2080/06/29), the prices of petrol and diesel-kerosene have been slashed by Rs 11 per liter and Rs 5 per liter, respectively.
The revised prices are as follows:
-
In regions like Charali, Biratnagar, Janakpur, Amlekhgunj, Bhalbari, Nepalgunj, Dhangadhi, and Birgunj, the new price of petrol stands at Rs 169 per liter. Previously, petrol was priced at Rs 180 per liter in these areas.
-
For Dang and Surkhet, petrol is now priced at Rs 171 per liter, and diesel at Rs 167 per liter.
-
In major cities like Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Dipayal, the updated petrol price is Rs 172 per liter and diesel at Rs 168 per liter. This is a marked reduction from the earlier prices of Rs 183 per liter for petrol and Rs 173 per liter for diesel.
This decision comes after the NOC received a new purchase price from the Indian Oil Corporation, with the cost of petrol and diesel decreasing by Rs 11.18 and Rs 5.03 per liter respectively. The reduction in procurement costs has allowed the corporation to pass on the benefits to the consumers, leading to the revised rates for petroleum products.
