Nepal Oil Corporation (Nepal Oil Nigam) Announces Reduction in Fuel Prices
In a recent development, the Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has declared a price decrease for various petroleum products including diesel, petrol, kerosene, and aviation fuel. This reduction in fuel prices will be effective from 12 PM tonight.
Tiered Pricing Based on Geographic Division
NOC, in an innovative move, has decided to adjust prices based on the geographic division of the country, segregating it into three categories. The first category will see a price drop of 7 rupees 50 Paisa per liter for diesel, petrol, and kerosene. The second category will experience a reduction of six rupees per liter, and the third category will get a cut of five rupees per liter. This announcement was made by the spokesperson of the corporation, Manoj Thakur.
Updated Fuel Prices Per Category
The adjusted price of petrol per liter in first-class areas is set at Rs 167.50 paisa, whereas in second-class areas, it's priced at Rs 169 per liter and in third-class areas at Rs 170 per liter. This marks a significant drop from the previous nationwide price of Rs 175 per liter.
The new prices for diesel and kerosene will be Rs 147.50 paisa in the first category, Rs 149 in the second, and Rs 150 in the third category, presenting significant savings for consumers.
Regional Classification for Fuel Pricing
NOC has categorized Charali, Biratnagar, Janakpur, Birgunj, Amlekhgunj, Bhalbari, Nepalgunj, and Dhangadhi as first-class areas. Surkhet and Dang fall under the second category, while Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Dipayal have been classified as third category areas.
Changes in Aviation Fuel Prices
Alongside these reductions, the corporation has also cut the price of domestic aviation fuel by USD 14 per liter and international aviation fuel by USD 150 per kiloliter. However, it's worth noting that there will be no changes to the price of LP gas used for cooking.
In summary, this strategic decision by Nepal Oil Corporation to reduce fuel prices will bring relief to consumers across the country, especially in the context of global economic uncertainties. It is a significant move towards making energy more affordable and accessible for the citizens of Nepal.
