Nepal Health Professional Council was established in 2053 BS for the registration of health-related manpower in Nepal. Since its inception, all subjects related to Physicians and Health (except Allopathic and Dental, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Ayurvedic disciplines) have been registered in this Council. Also, specialization in various subjects is being registered.
NHPC Issues for the Public Concerns:
1) The law stipulates that health workers working in health institutions must be registered with the concerned council.
2) The council can only recognize degrees obtained from any university and CTEVT.
3) In case of those who have studied abroad, only those who have equivalent degree from Tribhuvan University and CTEVT and meet the criteria of the council can be recognized.
4) It is not possible for any council or council to confer the title on any subject as per law.
5) The health workers registered in a council are in accordance with the rules and regulations of that council. Other bodies are not allowed to give restrictions and instructions.
6) In the modern developed condition, health workers with the degree of doctor with a certificate from different world schools under various subjects are also being registered in this council. Such as (Doctor of Optometry (OD), Doctor of Physiotherapy, Doctor of Homeopathy, Doctor of Naturopathy & Yogic Sciences, etc.); Thus, except for the doctor's degree mentioned in the certificate of the university, it is not allowed to use the degree itself as per the rules of the council.
