Nepal Govt Decides to Grant Public Holiday Two Days in a Week from Jestha 1

The government has decided to grant public holidays two days a week.  The cabinet meeting held on Tuesday decided to give leave two days a week with effect from Jestha 1, 2079 (15 May 2022) said Gyanendra Karki, spokesperson of the government and Minister for Communications and Information Technology. Karki said that it has been decided to give leave for two days now as a test. 

As per the decision, there will be two days off on Saturday and Sunday. On other days, the offices will be open from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm.

The oil corporation had offered to take two days off a week as petroleum products became more expensive and foreign exchange reserves came under pressure.

Office hours have increased after the government decided to give two days' leave. At present office hours are from 10 am to 5 am but now office hours will be increased by 1 hour. That is, the government has decided to maintain office hours from 9.30 am to 5.30 pm.

The government has decided to give leave two days a week from Jestha 1 but the office hours have increased. A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Tuesday has decided to grant public leave two days a week on Saturday and Sunday.

Minister for Information and Communication Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, who is also the spokesperson of the government, also informed that it has been decided to maintain office hours from 9.30 am to 5.30 pm with effect from Jestha 1, 2079.
