Nepal elected as Chair of the Economic and Financial Committee of the United Nations:
Nepal has been elected as the Chair of the Economic and Financial Committee (Second Committee) of the General Assembly at its seventy-five session. Amrit Bahadur Rai, who is the Permanent Representative of Nepal to the United Nations, has been elected as the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Committee in the election held under the 75th Session of the UN General Assembly.
This opportunity given to Nepal is a matter of pride for the whole of Nepal, said Information Officer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Suresh Adhikari. He said that as one of the six committees of the United Nations, its role would be important and its term would be one year. The Ministry has responded by playing a positive role in the international arena by playing a leading role in the United Nations.
