Nepal bans all Domestic and International Flights Amid rising Covid-19:
International flights from Nepal have been banned due to the epidemic of corona infection. International flights other than chartered and rescue flights have been banned since midnight on 6th May 2021, Thursday.
The government had decided to postpone domestic and international flights until mid-May to control the Corona epidemic.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), all domestic and international flights have been suspended to maintain two flights a year between the two countries as per the Air Bubble Agreement between Nepal and India.
In the absence of regular flights, an air bubble agreement was signed between Nepal and India last year with the objective of providing services to Nepali and Indian citizens who are arriving/departing for treatment, study, and trade. The agreement is made to make it easier for citizens of other countries to return to their home countries.
According to the 'Air Bubble' agreement, only citizens of these two countries can travel on flights from Nepal and India. The flight will be operated only by the national flag carrier of both countries.
The cabinet meeting on May 29, 2021, decided to suspend both domestic and international for corona prevention. Chartered and rescue flights will be operated during this period, CAN said. The Ministry of Tourism will issue flight permits for domestic and international chartered and rescue flights in full compliance with health safety standards.
PCR report with barcode and photo of Arrival / Departure passengers from Chartered and Rescue International flight is mandatory.
To control the risk of the covid epidemic, the government has imposed a ban on various districts of the country, including the Kathmandu Valley, since April 29, 2021.
