Nepal Bagged Two Awards Under Global e-Competition on Astronomy and Astrophysics :
Nepal has bagged two awards in an international school level astronomy competition. Rahul Ranjan Sah of St. Xavier's College Maitighar and Amshu Raj Sedhain of Capital College and Research Center (CCRC) Koteshwar have received the Honorable Mansion Award for Nepal in this year's Global E-Competition on Astronomy and Astrophysics.
On behalf of Nepal, the team led by Suresh Bhattarai included Manisha Dwa, Project Coordinator and Director of the Nepal Astronomical Society as a Mentor, Vijay Chandra Luitel, and Ankit Benju Shrestha, Associate Members and Former Olympiad Competitors.
The international competition which started on 9th Ashoj was concluded on 7th Kartik. Nepal has bagged two awards in the individual and collective competitions. There were 279 individual and 154 group participants from 40 countries including Nepal.
Fourteen students from Nepal have been selected for the 7th National Astronomy Olympiad.
Covid-19 moved to Colombia for the 14th International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics 2021; This year, the board of directors of the International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics passed a request for an online competition between the Estonian government and experts in an effort to keep students' morale high and maintain international standards in this difficult situation.
The National Astronomy Olympiad is a talent recognition program for students under the age of 20 studying in classes 8 to 12 in Nepal. The students who have been participating in this competition in Nepal since 2014 have been participating in various international competitions, receiving medals and awards, enrolling in high-level universities and campuses inside and outside the country, and have been performing excellently.
