From time to time, people get information about leaders' wealth. However, few know about the assets of the commander-in-chief of the Nepal Army. The current general secretary Purna Chandra Thapa has also made his property details public. Thapa made public the details of the property by organizing a program in the capital today.
According to the property details made public by him, 55 Tola gold, 590 Tola silver, and worth of 10 lakh rupees diamonds were found. Likewise, he also mentioned that 23 lakh cash was deposited in Nepal Investment Bank account, 42 thousand in Global IME Bank account and 50 thousand cash in the name of his wife.
The property details are worth 4.3 million shares in the name of wife and daughter. He also owns land in Kathmandu, Nawalparasi, Lamjung. Thapa has made public the statement of property for the purpose of sub-section (1) of section 50 of the Anti-Corruption Act, 2059 and Section 31 of Article 31 of the Authority Abuse Investigation Commission Act, 2048.
He made it clear that although the army is a sensitive organization for national security, he has made public the property details for transparency. He said that the army would now investigate from inside as there is an allegation that corruption investigation in the Nepal Army is not yet.
