NAST Concludes 45th Academic Assembly

Education, Science, and Technology Minister Devendra Paudel has said that the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) should work on the concept of a research-focused university in cooperation with universities.

Speaking at the 45th Academic Assembly of NAST, he emphasized on the need to work in a visible manner in collaboration with the university. Similarly, he praised NAST for promoting science and technology education in Nepal, modernizing and protecting traditional knowledge and skills, identifying appropriate technology and transferring technology, and serving the paramount development of the nation.

Minister Paudel said that NAST has developed Science and Technology Policy 2064, Science, Technology and Innovation Policy 2075, and Policy Implementation Blueprint 2077, the role played by NAST in the promotion of the science and technology sector, the consultation given to the government when necessary, and the identification of specially talented Nepalis to encourage and support them. He also mentioned that the contribution was memorable.

In the Assembly, it has been decided to establish specialized research centers in all seven provinces. It was proposed to keep Biratnagar in Province No. 1, Bardibas in Madhesh Province, Chitwan in Bagmati Province, Pokhara in Gandaki Province, Dang in Lumbini Province, Surkhet in Karnali Province, and Mahendranagar in Sudurpaschim Province.
