The National Private and Boarding Schools' Association Nepal (N-PABSON) has urged the Ministry of Finance not to levy more than 15 percent tax on private schools based on geographical areas.
N-PABSON has requested to impose a maximum 5 percent tax on private schools in Rural municipalities, 10 percent tax on municipalities, and 15 percent tax on metropolitan and sub-municipalities. Currently, 25 percent tax has been levied.
NPABSON Chairman Pandav Hamal said that the government has been asked to provide special protection and exemption to the private schools as they are facing financial difficulties. He said that even though Sunday was a public holiday, they would run the school regularly on that day.
