The Teacher Service Commission has demanded 17,000 teachers for primary to secondary level and more than 200,000 have applied. The commission had advertised for 13,297 teachers at the primary level, 2,606 at the lower secondary level, and 1,552 at the secondary level. Twelve times more applications have been received.

According to the Information Officer of the Commission, Sudarshan Marhattha, 36,552 applications have been received for the secondary level. Similarly, 86,914 applications have been received for lower secondary teachers and 97,029 applications for primary teachers. There are still four days left to fill up the application form at the primary level.

Information Officer Marhattha said that the number may have increased due to a large number of vacancies being filled in the last three years and the higher level of educational qualifications. Due to a large number of vacancies at the primary level, the desire to enter the service without reaching the age limit may have been high. The number of applicants may have been high as there is a high probability of selection when a large number of posts are opened. He is of the view that the attraction of the youth towards the teaching profession may have increased as the services and facilities are increasing.
The Teachers Service Commission has demanded 13,297 teachers at the primary level. It has demanded 7,203 teachers from open, 1,590 from indigenous tribes, 1,298 from Madhesi, 530 from Dalit, 293 from disabled, and 234 from backward areas. Similarly, about two thousand women teachers have been demanded. Among them, 1,854 open, 60 Dalit and 30 Muslim teachers have been demanded.
So far, 7,17,105 people have obtained teaching licenses to become teachers. According to the commission, 144,381 students have obtained licenses for teaching at the secondary level, 370,012 for the lower level, and 202,712 for the primary level.
