Molung Rural Municipality has decided to withhold the services and benefits of elected representatives, government employees, and teachers who do not enroll their children in community schools.

In line with the goal of improving the educational quality of community schools, the municipality has made it mandatory from the academic year 2082 that the children of individuals employed in various government bodies and receiving regular salaries, allowances, and services must be enrolled in community schools. The decision was made during the executive meeting of the rural municipality held on the 12th of Fagun. It specifies that all elected representatives, government employees, and teachers must enroll their children in community schools during the upcoming enrollment campaign.

In accordance with this decision, the municipality has issued a public notice calling upon all concerned individuals to compulsorily enroll their children in local community schools, in an effort to increase student enrollment. Administrative Officer Santosh Gautam informed that circulars have already been issued to all community schools to implement the decision and make the enrollment campaign meaningful.

Chairperson of the rural municipality, Uttam Rai, stated that among several steps aimed at improving the educational quality of community schools, the policy of requiring concerned individuals to enroll their children in community schools will be strictly enforced starting this year. "This decision was made during the executive meeting to improve the educational standard of community schools," said Chairperson Rai. "From the upcoming academic session, it will be mandatory for employees of government offices under the municipality, teachers of community schools, and elected representatives to enroll their children in community schools—otherwise, action will be taken, and their salary and benefits may be withheld."

He stated that the decision was necessary because when elected representatives, employees, and teachers do not enroll their children in village schools, it sends a negative message to the public and reduces interest in community schools. Although the state has invested significantly in community schools and competent teachers are appointed, a lack of student enrollment has forced the need for school mergers in rural areas.

Despite questions surrounding its implementation, Chairperson Rai confirmed that the decision will be fully enforced in Molung starting this year. Although there have been repeated calls in the past for elected representatives, government employees, and teachers to send their children to community schools to improve the educational standard, implementation had not been achieved.

At present, most elected representatives, employees, and teachers are sending their children to private schools in district headquarters and cities.
