Ministry of Health and Population Plans to hire Doctors and Nurses on a Short-term Basis:
The Ministry of Health and Population has decided to operate mandatory hospitals at all local levels across the country amid the Covid-19 epidemic. Currently, 649 hospitals are insufficient at the local level. The Ministry has decided to operate a five-bed hospital with at least one doctor.
A ministerial meeting held on Friday decided to run compulsory hospitals at all local levels across the country within a year, the ministry said. In South Asia, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan do not have hospital facilities at every local level. Ministry spokesperson Dr. "This is a historic step for the health sector in South Asia," Gautam said.
Ministry spokesperson Dr. Jageshwar Gautam said, "The local level does not make any excuses for the operation of the hospital. It is a binding arrangement." How can a hospital come into operation within a year in a municipality without the hospital, infrastructure, and manpower? In curiosity, Dr. Gautam said, "There is no hospital, but there is another health infrastructure, there are outposts and centers, there may be no manpower and resources, we will complete it."
The ministry plans to hire doctors and nurses on a short-term basis. About 300 doctors study MBBS annually on government scholarships. Dr. Gautam said, "649 doctors and 1,298 nurses are required as manpower to run the hospital."
Dr. Gautam, a spokesman for the declining number of doctors and nurses on contract, explained. Thus, five beds have been added at each local level and three thousand 245 beds have been added at 649 local levels.
The ministerial meeting on Friday decided to add 6,201 beds in federal, state, and local level hospitals. The decision of the ministry was taken for the implementation of the annual policy and program, said spokesperson Dr. Gautam.
But the ministry's decision seems important as complaints of a lack of treatment continue to rise from the grassroots level during the Covid-19 epidemic. In the annual policy and program of 2076/07, health policy has been taken to provide at least one doctor at the local level who have not received medical services within the next fiscal year. Most of the municipalities are already preparing infrastructure for a hospital with at least 15 beds in each municipality. But it has not been completed.
At present, there are 75 hospitals under the state. 68 district hospitals have been placed under the Ministry of Social Development under the province. Similarly, the zonal hospitals of Koshi, Sagarmatha, Janakpurdham, Butwal, Dhangadhi, Mahendranagar, and Baglung are under the province. There are 50 to 250 beds available in the provincial hospitals.
The ministry has stated that the state has been requesting for beds, manpower, and resources even before this. Ministry spokesperson Dr Gautam said that manpower and resources are being added to the health infrastructure as per the request of the state. One thousand 957 beds have been added in the state.
One thousand beds have been added in the central hospitals in the Kathmandu Valley including Bharatpur, Narayani, and Koshi Dadeldhura.
