Press Release from Ministry of Education

Ministry of Education instructs private schools not to charge fees:

The Ministry of Education has clarified that no fee should be charged at present as consultations are underway with the concerned parties for legal resolution of the problems faced by the private investment schools in the current dire situation of Corona epidemic and closure.

In a statement issued by the spokesperson and joint secretary of the ministry, Deepak Sharma, the government of Nepal has informed all concerned not to carry out activities contrary to the 'Student Learning Facilitation Directive, 2077' from the alternative system while the order of suspension of school-related activities other than service and work is upheld.

Press Release from Ministry of Education:

As per the decision of the Council of Ministers of the Government of Nepal dated 2077-02-28, an order has been issued not to operate the services and functions of the educational institutions (schools, colleges, tuition centers, training centers) at present and the services and functions of the offices of the educational institutions must comply with the public health and safety standards. It is well known that the decision to operate was made. It is also aware that learning facilitation programs have been implemented since 2077-03-01 as direct reading is not possible in educational institutions in the current difficult situation.

In this regard, the views of this Ministry regarding the issues published and disseminated in the public media on issues including student archiving, class promotion, textbooks, and fees are as follows:

(1) The Ministry has paid serious attention to the issues mentioned in the joint appeal issued by PABSON and National PABSON on 2077-03-07.

The Ministry will hold necessary consultations and discussions with all the stakeholders for the legal solution of the problems faced by the private investment schools in the current difficult situation. As per the decision of the Council of Ministers of the Government of Nepal, all the school-related activities other than service and work have been suspended.

(2) If there are any practical problems in the implementation of the learning facilitation program implemented from 2077-03-01, the educational institutions should do it as per the instructions received in consultation with the concerned local level.

(3) As the mother school of the children enrolled in early childhood development in 2076 BS has already been identified, there is no problem in archiving such children in class 1 and providing textbooks.

(4) Regarding the learning of children who have not experienced early childhood development but have completed five years of age, there is an arrangement to provide free textbooks by archiving the community school from the place where the children live.

(5) In the case of children who are compelled to pass a class in the academic session of 2076 BS and transfer to another school for archiving in the upper class, there is an arrangement for the school to provide such textbooks to the children and connect them to the back training learning system.
