Ministry of Education, Science and Technology ensures timely distribution of textbooks for the academic session 2080

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology of Nepal has announced that students across all 77 districts have received textbooks on time for the academic session 2080 (2023/2024). This was confirmed by Joint Secretary and Spokesperson of the Ministry, Deepak Sharma, during a press conference held on Sunday.

According to Sharma, all students across the country received their textbooks by the second week of Baisakh. The textbooks were printed and distributed by Janak Shiksha Material Center Limited and private sector printing organizations. The ministry has listed 1,267 local vendors across all 77 districts to ensure the availability of textbooks.

This year, 1 crore 5.5 million textbooks were printed for classes 6-10, while 1 crore 18 lakh textbooks were printed for classes 1-5. The ministry has made arrangements to make the textbooks available through the nearest seller and bookstore within 2 days from the date of contact where the textbooks have not arrived.

The spokesperson also mentioned that the student admission campaign is underway in schools all over the country from 15th May 2023, with the slogan 'timely admission, timely knowledge, quality education for all'.

In response to media inquiries, spokesperson Sharma stated that the decision made by Kathmandu Metropolitan City regarding the naming of schools is the right of the Metropolitan City. He clarified that the official decision of Kathmandu Metropolitan City has not yet come to the ministry. The local level has the authority to change the name of the school, establish the school, transfer it, and even close it if necessary. 

Overall, the Ministry's efforts to ensure the timely distribution of textbooks for the academic session 2080 reflect its commitment to providing quality education for all.
