Ministry of Education Announces Top 197 Public Schools for Excellence

The Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology (MoEST) has announced a list of the top 197 public schools from among approximately 28,000 schools across the country, to recognize their outstanding performance in educational, physical, and administrative reforms.

This decision comes as part of an initiative to uplift the standards of education nationwide and acknowledge the consistent efforts of the schools that are pushing boundaries in their respective areas.

Distribution of Financial Assistance through the Center for Education and Human Resource Development (CEHRD)

The shortlisted schools will receive financial aid amounting to five lakh rupees each, disbursed via the Center for Education and Human Resource Development (CEHRD). A total of 165 schools have been selected, representing one institution from each district's constituency.

Inclusion of Schools from Metropolitan and Sub-Metropolitan Cities

In a move to promote balanced representation, two schools from each metropolitan city and sub-metropolitan city have also been selected. This includes schools from the country's five metropolitan cities and 11 sub-metropolitan cities.

Monitoring Fund Utilization at Local Level

The financial assistance will be monitored at the local level to ensure the proper utilization of funds. Chudamani Paudel, the Director General of the Center for Education and Human Resource Development, confirmed that the five lakh rupees grant would be provided to each recognized school of excellence.

Selection Criteria for Financial Assistance

Schools selected for financial assistance are those with the highest performance test scores, as evaluated by the Center for Educational Quality Testing. Since the center's formation, it has been focused on assessing the performance of only secondary level schools.

Evaluation Parameters for School Performance

The center has established a total of 89 indicators to assess school performance, divided across four main categories: investment, process, achievement, and customer satisfaction level. Out of the country's 6,885 public secondary schools, 5,098 have been evaluated thus far, indicating a comprehensive and systematic approach towards improving educational standards.
