Minister of Education Directed to Amend the Rules of TSC

Minister for Education, Science, and Technology Devendra Poudel has directed to move ahead with the process of amending the regulations (rules) of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC). During a meeting with the Secretary, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Director General of the Center for Education and Human Resource Development and officials of the Teachers Service Commission at the Ministry on Tuesday, Minister Poudel directed to take the TSC rules into the process of amendment.

The annual work schedule of the commission has been affected due to the lack of amendment in the rules even though the annual work schedule was made after the appointment of officials in TSC. Therefore, the Minister has shown interest in amending the rules. The commission has stated that the process of appointing teachers will now move forward as the Minister of Education Poudel has asked to move ahead with the process of amending the regulations to move the activities of TSC forward.

TSC is preparing to advertise open and internal promotions for teacher selection. Commission spokesperson Sudarshan Marhattha says that the TSC will start the teacher selection process as soon as the process of amending the rules moves forward.

The TSC had earlier submitted a proposal to the Council of Ministers to amend the Teacher Service Regulations. The process of amending the regulations was halted due to technical reasons.

The Center for Education and Human Resource Development has already sent details to TSC that there are 17,047 vacancies in community schools across the country. The Center has submitted details to the Commission that there are 12,912 vacancies at the primary level, 2,593 vacancies at the lower secondary level, and 1,542 vacancies at the secondary level.

The center has also recommended 452 posts in primary level first-class and 1,693 posts in primary level second class for the promotion of teachers.

Similarly, 78 teachers have been recommended for promotion in lower secondary level first-class and 478 teachers in lower secondary level second class, 124 teachers in secondary level first-class and 484 teachers in secondary level second class.

Earlier, the Center had directed the Education Development and Coordination Units across the country to send details of vacancies for permanent posts of teachers.

TSC Information Officer Sudarshan Marhattha informed that the advertisement will be done only after completing the internal preparations based on the details sent by the Center.
