Minister of Communication Advocates for Enhanced IT and Infrastructure Development
October 15, 2023, Tulsipur, Dang - The esteemed Minister of Communication Information and Technology and the Government of Nepal’s spokesperson, Rekha Sharma, recently highlighted several key developmental prospects for the Dang district. Sharma emphasized the potential of the Nepal Sanskrit University to evolve into a hub for Eastern philosophy. However, despite the presence of a detailed report advocating for the university's transformation into a center for Eastern philosophy, the plans have yet to see the light of day.
One of the major initiatives that Sharma spoke about was the establishment of information technology skill development training centers across all seven provinces of Nepal. This move is primarily aimed at curbing the trend of the nation's youth seeking IT education abroad, signaling a shift towards strengthening domestic IT capabilities. Furthermore, Sharma unveiled an ambitious plan to ensure full communication capabilities across all districts within the seven provinces. She stated, "Our initial goal is to partner with Nepal Telecom to establish robust communication links in seven primary province-level districts and an additional 14 districts."
On the infrastructure front, the Dang district is gearing up to become a fully electrified district under Minister Sharma’s watchful eye. Addressing the challenges, Sharma cited financial constraints faced by both the current and previous governments as primary deterrents in kickstarting innovative projects. These constraints are attributed to past projects that were initiated without appropriate budget considerations, leading to significant financial obligations. The situation is further complicated by the prevailing political instability, adding to the financial strains of the nation.
The local community too had its voice heard during the discussion. Reshmiraj Khadka, the President of Bijauri Uwasangh, advocated for the construction of a bridge in the historical market area of Runtigadhi Ward 8 and 6 Ranibas area of the Bijauri Dahavan road section. Such a move, he believes, would greatly benefit the region's market, education, and health sectors. Khadka also raised alarms over potential diversions of funds from the Ghorahi-Hapur-Rakshachaur road project, emphasizing the importance of adhering to the original project blueprint.
In conclusion, Minister Sharma’s address paints a hopeful picture of Nepal's path towards IT and infrastructural growth, albeit challenges. The coming months will be crucial in gauging the actual implementation of these plans.
