Mid-Western University Conducting Online Exams of Bachelor and Master Level:
Mid-Western University will also conduct the final examinations for the bachelor's and master's degrees in the faculties of management and humanities online.
In the first phase, examinations for the seventh semester of the undergraduate level and the third semester of the postgraduate level of the faculties of Management, Humanities and Social Sciences, Science and Technology, Engineering and Education will be conducted online, said Dr. Ananda Prasad Subedi, Chief of the Examination Management Office.
These exams are being held from 17th Ashoj to 6th Kartik (3 October to 22 October).
Earlier, Midwestern University had conducted mid-term (conduct in the middle of the semester) online. ‘About 6,000 students have taken the exam (online). We have started preparations for the final exam after the mid-term became effective, ”said Chief Subedi.
The university has made some improvements in the final exam rather than the mid-term exam.
The examination period is fixed at 8 hours. Question papers will be sent to the examinees by email at 8 am. Students will have to write the answer to the question and send the answer sheet by 4 pm on the same day.
Chief Subedi said that the time of 8 hours has been fixed keeping in view the geographical remoteness of Karnali, internet and electricity. ‘It takes four hours for a student to take an exam in the examination hall. We have added four more hours to email, ”he said.
The examinee will have to write the answer on A-4 size paper and create a PDF file and email it. The university has stated that the style of the question will be changed. Creative and problem solving questions, some thematic questions and some objective questions will be kept, said Dr. Subedi.
Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Kamlesh DC, said that the online exam is the best in the current situation. He says it is better to look for alternatives than to be distracted by the Corona epidemic.
"If a student answers at home by searching on Google, asking someone, flipping through the pages of a book or any other means of answering, it cannot be considered otherwise," he said.
The university has been teaching through virtual medium lately. About 7500 students are studying in the central and 10 affiliated campuses of the university.
