MBBS, BDS Fees Likely to Increase by 15 Percent:
It has been recommended to increase the fee for undergraduate level of medical education including MBBS and BDS by 15 percent. The task force formed by the Medical Education Commission to determine the fees of the undergraduate level of medical education has recommended to increase the fees.
The commission had formed a task force to determine the new fees to be implemented from the new academic session. The task force formed under the coordination of the director of the commission Prof. Dr. Ramesh Acharya has submitted a report that the fee can be increased by 15 percent. Despite the task force's proposal, the members of the commission have not decided whether to increase the fee in the current situation or not.
If the commission decides as per the recommendation of the task force, the fee for MBBS will reach Rs 4.6 million. Earlier, the commission had fixed Rs 4,023,250 for MBBS in the Kathmandu Valley. Similarly, 2 million 19 thousand five hundred and eighty was determined in BDS. If the fee is increased, the BDS will reach 2.3 million. There is an arrangement to charge 10 percent more of the prescribed fee outside the Kathmandu Valley.
Earlier, the commission had fixed only the fees for MBBS and BDS, but this year it will also fix the fees for nursing. Earlier, the university had given the right to fix fees for subjects other than MBBS and BDS. The commission has recommended determining the average fee this year as different fees have been fixed for authorizing the university.
According to the Medical Education Act, the National Medical Education Commission has for the first time prepared an integrated entrance exam for undergraduate level medical education programs including MBBS. Earlier, the Ministry of Education had selected and sent students for scholarships, but from this year, the commission will conduct an integrated entrance examination and send students for scholarships.
For the first time, the results of the integrated examination of MD / MS have been made public. The Commission is preparing for the entrance examination of DM / MCH and MBBS.
The official said that a sample question paper will be prepared by the experts and made public. The process of the MBBS examination will start after the results of class 12 are made public.
