Manmohan Technical University to Start Teaching Yoga and Natural Medicine Education
Manmohan Technical University, located in Budhiganga-4 of Morang, Nepal, is set to start teaching yoga and natural medicine education. Established by the Koshi State Government, this move is a first for Nepal. The university aims to produce skilled manpower to meet the growing global demand for naturopathic education.
Undergraduate and postgraduate levels will be offered to make students independent in employment. Dr. Subhash Shri Pokharel, Vice Chancellor of the University, said that experts from Nepal and India are currently working on curriculum development. Once the curriculum is constructed, undergraduate and postgraduate classes will be conducted after permission is granted.
The Chancellor of the University and Chief Minister of Koshi Province Government, Hikmat Karki, emphasized the importance of naturopathy education. He believes that adopting healthy measures like making toilets, drinking water, environment, and diet healthy can prevent many diseases. Thus, natural medicine education is relevant.
Jeevan Ghimire, former Social Development Minister of Koshi province, explained that despite attempts to implement yoga education in all the province's schools, there was a lack of skilled manpower. There is a high demand for skilled manpower who have studied naturopathy in Nepal and India.
Dr. Janak Basnet, a natural health expert, stated that the lack of skilled manpower caused problems for naturopathy hospitals in Nepal. They were forced to bring doctors and other manpower from India. Dr. Basnet himself had to go to India to study naturopathy.
Manmohan Technical University, established in 2065, currently has seven educational programs in operation. It started teaching civil engineering in 2069 and has since introduced architecture, electrical and electronics engineering, and other courses. The University's School of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences has also started teaching undergraduate pharmacy and public health subjects.
Overall, the introduction of yoga and natural medicine education by Manmohan Technical University is a commendable move to meet the global demand for skilled manpower in the field. The curriculum development work being done by experts from Nepal and India is a positive sign for the future of naturopathic education in Nepal.
