Mahaprasad Adhikari Appointed as 17th Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank:
The government has appointed Mahaprasad Adhikari as the Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank. Adhikari was appointed by a cabinet meeting held on Monday.
The recommendation committee, chaired by Finance Minister Dr. Yuvraj Khatiwada, had recommended the names of the deputy governors Chintamani Siwakoti and Dr. Rajan Khanal along with the Adhikari for the new governor.
The governor-appointed officer was the chief executive officer of the Investment Board. Adhikari, who retired from the deputy governor of Rashtra Bank, has 3 decades of work experience at Rastra Bank.
He was earlier recommended to the Governor along with Dr. Chiranjeevi Nepal. Although the then finance minister Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat recommended him, the government led by Sushil Koirala had appointed Nepal as governor.
Nepal has been given the opportunity to become governor for the second time after Nepal has completed its five-year term. With the government's decision, Adhikari has become the 17th Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank.
