Madhesh University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Deepak Shakya recently voiced his frustration over the lack of support from the Birgunj Metropolitan City in running the university. Speaking at a program organized on the occasion of National Vibhuti Community Education Sadan Dumarwana and Parents' Day, Vice-Chancellor Shakya revealed that despite several attempts to discuss the issue of running the university with the head of Birganj metropolis and the office bearer of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, they did not show any interest.

He emphasized the importance of society's support in running a university, stating that while they could build a university, they could not run it without the support of the community. He further stated that despite being in Birganj for six months, no financial support had been provided by anyone, from the ward president to the minister. The only progress made thus far has been the formation of regulations, installation of a senate, and searching for a house.

Madhesh University is currently operating from the rented premises of National Trading in Birganj, but the academic session's start date has not yet been decided. The Vice-Chancellor said that they require around one hundred bighas of land for the university's operation, and the search for land is being carried out in the local levels of Parsa.

The lack of support from the Birgunj Metropolitan City has hindered the university's progress. However, Vice-Chancellor Shakya urged private schools to encourage professional education and provide respectable service facilities for teachers to improve the educational level in the region.

Despite the challenges faced, Madhesh University remains committed to providing quality education to students and contributing to the development of the region. The university hopes that the local government and community will come forward and provide the necessary support for its successful operation.
