Speaking at the Lumbini Buddhist University's 17th anniversary celebrations and the first Triyan Pragya Sammelan and the inauguration of the Central Library building, President Bhandari said that educational quality was necessary to produce a strong manpower. President Vidyadevi Bhandari has stressed on the need to increase investment in education to reduce the trend of going abroad for study. Stating that a large number of students are going abroad for higher education, she said that investment in education should be increased to reduce it and increase the quality of education.
She emphasized the need for Lumbini Buddhist University to conduct programs to attract local and foreign students and researchers. Stating that Buddhist philosophy is spreading all over the world in today's age, she said that the tangible and intangible heritage of Lumbini listed in the World Heritage List is invaluable in the world and it is necessary to preserve it. President Bhandari said that Lumbini would be an excellent international cultural tourist destination if the Lumbini Master Plan was completed as soon as possible after finding out the reasons for the delay.
She stressed on the need to excavate and preserve the archeological heritage of Rupandehi, Nawalparasi, Kapilvastu and Buddhist and Buddhist education spread across the country. She even suggested universities to include Buddhist education in the curriculum.
Minister for Education, Science and Technology Devendra Poudel said that education should be linked with skills. Minister Poudel stressed on the need to achieve spiritual prosperity by linking education with skills and culture by implementing the Presidential Educational Reform Program.
Chairman of the University Research Commission Bhim Subedi said that the university was active in promoting Buddhism, culture and art. Hriday Ratna Bajracharya, vice-chancellor of the university, said that the educational development of the university has gained momentum with the support of all.
