Lok Vijay Adhikari Obtained Doctorate Degree in the Study of the Gorkha Earthquake and its Aftershocks:
Lok Vijay Adhikari, a senior seismologist at the National Earthquake Measurement Center, Department of Mines and Geology, received a doctorate in the study of the Gorkha earthquake and its aftershocks. Adhikari holds a doctorate from the University of Paris, France.
The University of Paris has awarded a doctorate to Lok Vijay Adhikari for his study of the Gorkha earthquake and its aftershocks.
Deputy Director-General and Spokesperson of the Department of Mines and Geology Jayaraj Ghimire said that a senior seismologist of the department has received a doctorate on the statistics of the Gorkha earthquake. Mukunda Bhattarai, a seismologist of the department from the University of Tokyo, Japan, also did his doctorate with him.
Bhattarai has done research on the seismic risk of Kathmandu after the Gorkha earthquake and its impact on the physical infrastructure. Bhattarai had done his doctorate a month ago. Bhattarai said that the doctorate was obtained by studying the seismic waves measured by the centre's station in Nepal after the Gorkha earthquake using Nepali technology and resources.
Lok Vijay Adhikari said that the Gorkha earthquake has paved the way for the study of many new things and he is happy that he has been able to do a lot of meaningful work in the future as well. Adhikari has expressed his gratitude to all those who have supported and assisted him at every level from the beginning of formal education till today. He also urged the general public to be aware of the quake and prepare for it.
