Public Service Commission (PSC - Lok Sewa Aayog) to Increase Stringency in Exams for Section Officer (Sakha Adhikrit), Nayab Subba, and Kharidar Levels from Fiscal Year 2081/82

The Public Service Commission (PSC - Lok Sewa Aayog) has decided to increase the stringency in the exams for Section Officer (Sakha Adhikrit), Nayab Subba, and Kharidar levels from the current fiscal year 2081/82.

Since the subjects of the first paper and the second paper exams are different, it is not relevant to add the marks obtained in the first paper to the main exam marks. Therefore, the commission has decided to make the exams more stringent. This provision has been included in the syllabus released by the commission.

Previously, candidates needed to score 40 marks to pass the first paper of Section Officer (Sakha Adhikrit), Nayab Subba, and Kharidar levels. From now on, the commission has set the requirement to score 45 marks to pass the first paper.

The commission’s spokesperson, Geeta Kumari Humagain, stated that only those who score 45 marks in the preliminary phase, based on an objective question paper of 100 full marks, will be allowed to participate in the second paper exam.

The commission has revised the syllabus to exclude the provision of adding 50% of the total marks obtained in the first paper to the second paper marks from the current fiscal year.

In the first phase of the written exam, a preliminary exam will be conducted, and this preliminary exam will be considered only as a selection exam. The marks obtained in this exam will not be included in the main exam marks. Humagain clarified, "This provision has been made to make the PSC exams more organized and competitive." With the implementation of this provision, the first and second papers will have their own separate existence, according to the commission.
