KU School of Arts Launches UG Program in English, Mass Communication & Journalism

KU School of Arts Launches Undergraduate Program in English, Mass Communication & Journalism

Kathmandu University (KU) has launched a new undergraduate program in English, Mass Communication, and Journalism at the School of Arts. The four-year program will be operational in February. 2025.

According to the university, students can specialize in English and journalism with a single degree and gain proficiency in linguistic skills, critical thinking, creative writing, and media strategy.

School of Arts Dean Ekkumaya Pun said the program is designed to provide multidisciplinary knowledge and professional skills. “Today’s graduates need to be proficient in multi-dimensional competencies, so this program will help students achieve academic and professional excellence,” she said. The program has prioritized English literature, linguistic studies, media research, and cultural studies.

The program is believed to create opportunities in education, journalism, public relations, research, corporate communications, and publishing. Professor Dr. Abhi Subedi said this program has made education relevant globally by connecting language and communication.

Open to students who have passed grade 12, only 20 will be admitted to this program. Through this program, the university aims to prepare a new generation of students for multifaceted roles.
