Krishna Bahadur Rai Transforms Education in Bhojpur with New School Building

In a significant display of generosity and commitment to education, Krishna Bahadur Rai, a revered social worker and former British Army officer, has made a substantial contribution to the Bhojpur district's educational infrastructure. Rai invested a notable sum of Rs 1 crore 39 lakh to construct a new building for Sheetladevi Basic School located in Pauwadungma Rural Municipality-2, Tharpu. This significant investment was motivated by Rai's desire to improve the educational facilities in his hometown, which he noticed were in a dilapidated state.

The newly constructed school building, boasting six rooms, was officially handed over this Monday. Rai's contribution extends beyond the building itself; he also developed a playground for the students, enhancing both the educational and recreational facilities of the school. This development comes at a crucial time, especially in light of the challenges faced by the school, including a declining student population due to migration and demographic shifts.

Kiran Rai, Chairman of Pauwadungma Rural Municipality, lauded Krishna Bahadur Rai's efforts, acknowledging his significant contribution to the development of the village. He highlighted how Rai's work in constructing concrete buildings for schools has established a reputation for him as a benefactor of education. The school's principal, Chandra Bogti, also expressed gratitude, noting that the new building will greatly aid in providing quality education and help retain students in the area.

The inauguration of the new building, conducted by Krishna Bahadur and Chairman Rai, marks a new era for the Sheetladevi Basic School. This initiative by Krishna Bahadur Rai is not just a testament to his dedication to his community but also serves as an inspiring example of how individual contributions can profoundly impact the educational landscape of a region. Rai's actions have set a precedent for others to follow, potentially encouraging more investments in rural education in Nepal.
