KP Sharma Oli Appointed as Prime Minister for the Third Time:

After the failed attempt to form a coalition government, KP Sharma Oli has been appointed as the Prime Minister. The main opposition Nepali Congress and the Maoist Center, the third-largest party in the House of Representatives, had taken the initiative to form a coalition government in accordance with Article 76 (2) of the Constitution by Thursday evening.

President Bidya Devi Bhandari had given time till 9 pm on Thursday to claim the PM with the support of two or more parties. After the parties failed to submit their demands within the stipulated time, President Bhandari has appointed UML Chairman Oli as the Prime Minister. After the government could not be formed as per Article 76 (2) of the Constitution, President Bhandari appointed Oli, the leader of the largest party in the House of Representatives, as the Prime Minister as per Article 76 (3), said Rup Narayan Bhattarai, spokesperson of the President's Office. Oli, who has been appointed prime minister for the third time, is scheduled to take the oath of office and secrecy at 2 pm on Friday, Bhattarai said.

The president has appointed KP Sharma Oli, the leader of the UML parliamentary party, the largest party in the House of Representatives, as prime minister in accordance with Article 76 (3) of the constitution, after the coalition government failed to meet the deadline.

Oli, who became the Prime Minister for the first time after the promulgation of the new constitution by the Constituent Assembly in September 2015, was appointed the Prime Minister for the second time after the general election of 2017. Oli, who has twice been the prime minister with the support of the Maoist center, lost a vote of confidence in parliament on May 10 after the same party withdrew its support.
