The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has prepared the mandatory national flag and change the School name in the Devanagari Script from the upcoming academic session.
In the past, many schools have been given English name because they have all been required to name them in the Devanagari script from the upcoming session.
According to KMC spokeswoman Ishwar Dangol, private and community schools should be flagged for the national honor.
Similarly, KMC will have to implement the local curriculum from the upcoming academic session. According to Sitaram Koirala, KMC Education Department, the local curriculum will be implemented in all the community and private schools within the metropolis.
Nepal Bhasa, sustainable development, environmental education, traffic management, and Kathmandu's old language and culture will be included. Koirala said that the local curriculum should be implemented as local subjects, requirements, and materials in the local language.
Currently, there are operating 91 public and 643 institutional schools within KMC. In these schools, one lakh 65 thousand children have been studying. After the loss of the school's physical structure due to the Gorkha earthquake, some schools have been operating in one house in the morning and two in the afternoon.
Similarly, KMC will not allow permission to conduct a new school. Other schools will be given not only to the registration of certain schools and criteria which are completed in the same process.
