Kathmandu University Launches Master's Programmes in Technical Mathematics

Kathmandu University (KU) has launched a postgraduate program in technical mathematics. According to Prof. Dr. Ravindra Kayastha, head of the Mathematics Department at KU's School of Science, various technical programs in mathematics have been launched.

He said the department is offering a 'BSc in Computational Mathematics' and that the 'BDSC Bachelor of Data Science' course was launched during this academic session.

'The university's Mathematics Department is contributing to producing skilled manpower. It has produced technically skilled manpower for various universities, colleges, schools, and companies in the country,' said Department Head Kayastha. 'To produce technically skilled manpower according to the time required by the country, we have launched a new postgraduate program in technical mathematics.'

He said the new program is being implemented by modifying the curriculum according to the time and implementing courses and curricula according to market demand.

He said various programs are being run in the Mathematics Department under KU's School of Science. Computational Mathematics and Data Science programs are in operation at the undergraduate level.

Computational Mathematics is a two-year program at the postgraduate level. The Department of Mathematics has stated that this program is a mixed Mathematics and Computer Science course.

Kayastha said that he believes that after studying computational mathematics, manpower who can work as data engineers, data architects, data analysts, and data scientists in technology companies will be produced.

One must have passed a four-year or equivalent educational program to enroll in the course. One must have scored at least 2 CGPA or 50 percent or above to study this subject. KU has stated that students will currently be admitted to this educational program at a rate of 10/10 students at a time.
