Kathmandu University Collaborates to Strengthen the Role of Local Judicial Committees in Kavrepalanchok District

Kathmandu University has taken an important step to strengthen and organize the role of local judicial committees in the Kavrepalanchok district. The university's efforts will help to increase access to justice for citizens in the district.

Efforts to Expand Access to Justice

In the first phase, Kathmandu University conducted a discussion with all 13 local level judicial committees in Kavrepalanchok district. The aim was to explore ways to expand access to justice for citizens. Human Rights Commission Chairman, Tap Bahadur Magar, highlighted the importance of evaluating facts and evidence, rather than ego when making judgments.

Support from the District Court

Kavre District Court Chief Judge, Mohanraj Bhattarai, commended the work of the Kavre Judicial Committee and expressed the court's readiness to support the committee in its work. The collaboration between the judicial committee and the district court will help to improve the effectiveness of the justice system in Kavrepalanchok district.

Cooperation from Municipalities

Vice-Chancellor of Kathmandu University, Prof. Dr. Bhola Thapa, emphasized that all municipalities in Kavre will collaborate in judicial and other works. This cooperation will help to ensure that the justice system is accessible to all citizens in the district.

Legal Assistance at all Levels

Prof. Dr. Rishikesh Wagle, Dean of Kathmandu University's School of Law, assured that legal assistance will be provided continuously at all levels. This will help citizens to navigate the legal system and access justice when they need it.

Study Report on Work Effectiveness

During the program, a study report was presented regarding the work effectiveness of the judicial committee in six municipalities of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, and Kavre. The report will help to identify areas where improvements can be made to ensure that the justice system is effective and efficient.
