Kathmandu University has announced that students currently studying at various foreign universities can transfer credits for their remaining semesters based on certificates proving completion of relevant semester levels.
According to Acting Vice-Chancellor Achyut Wagle, this decision was reached following discussions between university officials and students regarding problems faced by students at foreign universities. He stated that during talks on Friday, it was clarified that if students can prove completion of courses in one semester at various universities, it would be easier to study the remaining semesters here.
"We haven't considered tuition fees; remaining semesters can be transferred and studied here. The degree will be from Kathmandu University. Our effort is to make it easier for those who want to study. We will also facilitate arrangements for examinations for those who have completed their studies at various universities," he said.
Vice-Chancellor Wagle explained that although Kathmandu University does not have a formal agreement with KIIT University in Odisha, diplomatic and academic discussions should be initiated to facilitate solutions to the current problems. "Fee management will be arranged to make it easier for those who want to transfer courses and take exams. We will try to identify and solve the problems of every student," he said.
Shyamsundar Khadka, Associate Dean of the School of Engineering at the university, stated that there are already easy arrangements for those who have completed courses at various universities to take exams, adding that policy matters can be facilitated.
