Kathmandu Metropolitan City Orders Community Schools Not to Charge Fees
In response to complaints from parents, the Education Officer Ram Prasad Subedi of the Education Department of the Metropolitan Municipality has issued a notification prohibiting community schools from charging any fees. Misuse of Donation Provision by Some Schools
There have been reports of some schools charging fees from parents by misusing the provision in sub-section (a) of section 16 (d) of the Education Act, 2028 (with amendments). This provision allows parents to make donations or give support to community schools voluntarily. However, some schools have been taking advantage of this provision to charge fees from parents.
Strict Action Will be Taken
The Kathmandu Metropolitan City has warned that strict action will be taken against any school found charging fees from parents. The city has also advised parents not to pay any fees and report any such incidents to the authorities immediately.
Overall, It is essential to ensure that education is accessible to all, regardless of their financial status. The move by the Kathmandu Metropolitan City to prohibit fees in community schools is a step towards achieving this goal. It is crucial to implement such policies and regulations effectively to provide quality education to every child in the country.
