Kaparphori Secondary School Chitwan Conducting Classes in Community Level:
The educational institution, which was closed by the government due to the coronavirus epidemic, will be operational from 17th August. Schools that have been closed since the fourth week of March have been closed for about four months. Community and institutional school students were deprived of education when schools were closed to protect students from the risk of the corona.
In the meantime, the institutional school tried to provide online classes and the community school tried to provide education through FM radio, but it was not successful. However, a school in Ratnanagar, Chitwan did not interrupt teaching even during the lockdown.
Kaparphori Secondary School in Ratnanagar-9, Tikauli has imparted education to the school by conducting classes in communities. The school has been teaching the students in the community building, waiting room, mother group building, community forest meeting hall, community learning center, and offices of other organizations in the village. Due to Corona, it was not possible to keep all the students in the classroom, so the class was conducted in Toltol, said Principal Vishnu Kattel.
The school is teaching in communities to give regularity to the students affected by the Corona epidemic. The school informed that the teachers are conducting the classes in the community road by collecting the students from each small community. Thus, the school is the first in Chitwan to provide education to the students by conducting classes in the service area of the school. The school had collaborated with the chairpersons and officials of 12 community development organizations in the service sector to teach in the community.
Students from infants to class 10 have been divided into groups according to their convenience and classes have been conducted in the community said Principal Kattel. He informed that 15 to 20 students were involved in one group. Taking extreme precautions to avoid the risk of the corona, the teaching is done in a safe environment using social distance, masks, and sanitizers, said Principal Kattel. He also said that a maximum of 25 students have been included in a group as social distance has to be maintained. The 16 teachers of the school were divided into five groups to conduct classes at Community Level. Even though the school is closed, the curriculum has moved forward regularly by teaching at Community Level. "The closure of the school has not affected the curriculum," he said. "We have taught in a systematic way like in the classroom."
While the teachers of the institutional schools were complaining that they were not getting their monthly salary due to the closure of the schools, the teachers of the community schools were not facing such a problem. It has been found that the teachers in the community schools are still active in other school management activities even after the closure of classes. Education Committee Coordinator and Mayor Narayan Wan said that despite the risks of Corona.
Most of the students from the squatter community have been studying in the school. The school has 250 students from pre-school to class 10. The school reached Toltol and imparted education to the students of the institutional schools besides its own students. According to Kattel, about 100 students studying in the institutional schools have been given education by joining their group of students.
