Japan Grants NPR 42.3 Crores to Nepal for Human Resource Development Scholarship
The Government of Japan has pledged a grant of approximately NPR 42.3 crores (454 million Japanese Yen) to Nepal under the Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS) program.
Grant Agreement and Details
This agreement was formalized through the signing of documents by Dr. Ram Prasad Ghimire, Secretary of the Ministry of Finance of Nepal, and Kikuta Yutaka, Japanese Ambassador to Nepal. The scholarship program offers Nepalese government officials the opportunity to pursue advanced education in Japan, with options for a two-year Master's degree or a three-year PhD.
Impact and History of the JDS Program
Since its launch in 2016, the JDS program has enabled 165 Nepalese students to obtain higher education in Japan. Under the latest agreement, an additional 22 students will be awarded scholarships to further their studies.
