A Modern Facility for Learning and Research
The newly established e-library is housed in a spacious three-story building, covering an area larger than one plantation. Previously located in Bhaktapur Municipality Ward No. 2 Darbar area, the library had to be relocated due to space constraints back in 2018. However, with the recent grand program, the library has now found its new home.
Embracing the Digital Era
The e-library offers a comprehensive collection of digital resources, including textbooks, audio files, graphics, and visual aids, catering to various educational and research needs. Users have the convenience of accessing and downloading these resources, thereby enabling a seamless study experience. Whether on computers, tablets, laptops, or smartphones, individuals can easily delve into a wide array of subjects.
A Municipality-Operated Endeavor
Bhaktapur municipality oversees the operation of this e-library, reflecting their commitment to enhancing the reading culture among the younger generation. Recognizing the closure of many libraries in the district, the municipality has taken the initiative to make Janjyoti Library more accessible and well-managed, garnering enthusiasm among readers. The establishment of the e-library is expected to greatly benefit researchers, providing them with convenient access to valuable resources.
Accessible and Free of Charge
The library's head, Bhupal Mull, emphasizes that this facility, designed specifically for the residents of Bhaktapur city, is accessible to all individuals free of charge. Unlike private companies that charge exorbitant fees, the Bhaktapur municipality generously offers this service without any financial burden to its users.
A Treasure Trove of Knowledge
Within the e-library, visitors can explore a vast collection of books from both domestic and international sources. Additionally, national daily, weekly, and monthly newspapers are available for perusal. The library boasts an impressive collection of approximately 18,000 books, providing a wealth of knowledge and information to its users.
Embracing the Digital Future
The e-library was inaugurated by Prem Suwal, Secretary to the central committee of the Nepal Majdoor Kisan Party and Federal Member of Parliament. MP Suwal highlighted the indispensability of information and technology in the digital era of the 21st century. He emphasized the comfort and expanded opportunities for research that online media affords, enabling researchers to delve deeper into their subjects of interest. The e-library stands as a testament to the continuous evolution of study and research methods in the modern world.
By launching the e-library, Janjyoti Library in Bhaktapur has not only embraced the digital age but also demonstrated its commitment to promoting a thriving learning and research environment. With its extensive resources and accessible nature, the e-library is poised to benefit countless individuals in their pursuit of knowledge and academic excellence.
