Recently, the Nepal Medical council drafted a warning letter to Vayodha Hospital, stating that the hospital misguided a patient by referring to another consultant doctor who was not the one mentioned in the bill, payment slip.
The Nepal Medical Council sought clarification from Vayodha Hospital on the treatment of patients. The Medical Council has demanded an explanation stating that the hospital has acted against the law while treating the patient. Pallabi Shrestha, who was taken to Vayodha Hospital for treatment on Kartik 9, 2077, had lodged a complaint against the hospital for negligence during her treatment. She had demanded an investigation and action stating that she was treated by another doctor and was negligent during the treatment. This was almost a year ago.
What happened exactly?
Finally, clarifying the letter of the council, the hospital sent an explanation stating that the patient had come to see the orthopedic specialist herself and that the head of the orthopedic department of the hospital, Dr. Abhay Yadav, was on leave that day. It is normal for a doctor to be on leave and in case of an emergency or by informing the patient themselves another similar specialist was referred to her, this is a normal procedure.
Accordingly, the hospital has clarified that the patient Pallavi Shrestha was seen by another doctor, and even after that, when she came for follow-up several times, the patient herself saw the doctor Shashi Kumar Jha. Although the incident was mentioned on Kartik 9, 2077 BS, it has been clarified that the hospital has evidence that Dr. Pallavi himself came to the hospital on different dates after seeing Dr. Shashi.
If the patient herself was not satisfied, then why she visited the same doctor again?
And if the hospital mistakenly showed it to another doctor, then the patient himself did not respond immediately/ instantly, why was this? Does a world-class hospital-like Voyodha, built by investing millions of rupees, lie to patients for a few hundred rupees? If this is true, how much can ordinary people like us now rely on private hospitals that provide world-class services? This question to all of us.
Looking at the explanation of Voyodha Hospital, it seems that the hospital is clear in its service in this regard. What will be the response of the Medical Council now? The future shall answer.
