Tribhuvan University Institute of Engineering (IOE) is going to make internships mandatory in every engineering program. Previously, the internship was made compulsory only in some engineering disciplines.

This time, the Institute of Engineering (IOE) has informed that it has come up with a plan to move forward by keeping an internship in the course itself.

At present, a total of 11 programs are running at the graduate level under the institute, namely Architect, Civil, Electrical, Electronics and Communication, Computer, Geomatics, Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, Aerospace, and Automobile Engineering.

The IOE said that once the new syllabus is passed, the internship will also be mandatory. IOE is committed to providing internships to students of all engineering disciplines utilizing the industrial infrastructure within the country.

According to IOE, the affiliated and individual colleges themselves have to coordinate with the required industries/companies to arrange a suitable environment for internships for the students.

The duration and process of the internship will be known only after the implementation of the revised curriculum, IOE said. As engineering is an experimental discipline, this step taken by IOE has been analyzed to help the students with the real market.
