Institute of Engineering (IOE) Announces Fee Hike for Undergraduate Courses

In a significant decision, the Institute of Engineering (IOE) has revised its fee structure for four-year undergraduate courses, including BE and B.Arch.

Key Updates from the Recent Meeting:

  • The IOE Studies Implementation Committee held a meeting on Thursday, August 10, 2023, to finalize this revision.

  • As per the new fee structure, the complete fee for a four-year course stands at Rs 7,75,420.

  • The regular side will now see a fee of Rs 82,720, a considerable hike from the previous Rs 35,000.

  • The full fee side which was earlier priced at Rs 330,000 has seen a whopping 235 percent increase.

Behind the Scenes of the Fee Hike:

The Dean of IOE, Prof. Dr. Shasidhar Ram Joshi, remarked that the fee hadn't witnessed a revision in a long while. Shedding light on the rationale behind this decision, he mentioned the formation of a committee under the leadership of Sushil Brrajacharya. This committee undertook comprehensive studies across all five Angik campuses affiliated with IOE. Post the research, the committee strongly recommended the fee hike.

Interestingly, the previous fee structure was set in the year 2053, with an arrangement to increase it by 10% annually. However, Tribhuvan University (TU) expressed its inability to allocate a budget for IOE. The institute, in response, stated that the fee increment was inevitable, considering the mounting expenses to provide quality education.

Affiliated Campuses and Colleges:

IOE boasts of five esteemed affiliated campuses:

  • Pulchwok Engineering College
  • Purbanchal College
  • Pashchimanchal College
  • Thapathali Campus
  • Chitwan Engineering College

In addition, 10 private colleges affiliated to TU offer undergraduate and postgraduate programs in engineering.

It's evident that while the fee hike might seem steep, it's a step IOE found necessary to maintain their standard of education. Prospective students and parents are advised to factor in these new rates while planning for their academic futures.
