Introducing Kumon Learning Method in Nepal

The Kumon learning method, which began in Japan, is now being implemented in Nepal. This method, based on the principle that each individual learns at their own pace, allows students to learn independently using digital tablets without the need for trained teachers.

Implementation in Nepal

ICG Business Holdings Pvt. Ltd., the official representative of this method in Nepal, has started practicing the Kumon method with about 1,500 students from grades 3 and 4 at United School in Gwarko, Lalitpur, and LRI School in Kalanki, Kathmandu.

Observations and Interactions

On Monday, Katsuyuki Inoue, Managing Director of Kumon Education Company Limited in Japan, observed the Kumon practices at these schools and interacted with the students. He emphasized that this method helps enhance the thinking abilities of students, allowing them to learn independently at their own pace. Additionally, it develops problem-solving skills and life skills.

Positive Changes in Students

Dr. Devikant Joshi, Principal of LRI School, noted that the daily 30-minute Kumon practice has brought positive changes in the study habits and behavior of students. Manoj Bishwakarma, Principal of United School, stated that this unique self-learning and student-centered method is proving to be effective in Nepal.

Enhancing Educational Quality

Ganeshman Lama, President of ICG Holdings, mentioned that the method was introduced in Nepal to improve the quality of education. Despite ongoing debates about teacher training, education policies, curriculum, and textbooks, there has been a lack of focus on developing students' cognitive skills. This method helps improve students' IQ levels and accelerates their operating systems.

Monitoring and Feedback

The method assesses students' daily activities and informs Kumon staff about the usage of students' minds through Artificial Intelligence (AI). The feedback reaches the instructors, who then provide directions to improve cognitive usage. This method has already been implemented in various states in the United States and countries in Europe.

Affordable Pricing in Nepal

While this method is considered expensive in other countries, it is available in Nepal at an affordable price, making it accessible to a broader range of students.
