Interaction with Children's Paintings and Online Child Sexual Abuse Completed

On the occasion of International Children's Day, an interactive program on children's painting and online child sexual abuse has been completed.

On the occasion of the day, a painting program was organized by Lalitpur Metropolitan City Bungamati Ward No. 22 Child Protection Committee in coordination with the ward office, in collaboration with World Vision International Nepal and Child Development Society to enhance the creative talents of the children and increase their morale.

The program was attended by 16 children from ward level children's clubs in Bungamati Ward No. 22 and 7 other schools. The children gave suggestions on child rights, end of child labor, prevention of child marriage, importance of education to children through pictures. The program was chaired by the ward president of the ward Ambir Raj Shakya.

Ward members Sagar Tuladhar and Jamuna Tamang, teachers of the school were present in the program. Junu Mijar, coordinator of the ward level child protection committee, said that a program would be organized by the ward level child protection committee in the coming days to increase the capacity of children by holding painting competitions.

Similarly, on the occasion of the same day in Chandragiri Municipality, an interaction program was organized with children about online child sexual abuse. The program was chaired by Lisa Nakarmi, Deputy Mayor of Chandragiri Municipality and Coordinator of Municipal Child Rights Committee, Rashmi Shrestha, Head of Social Development Branch, Coordinators of Ward Level Child Rights Committee and children.

Children need special attention when they are online. Deputy Chief Lisha Nakarmi said that it is important not only to warn the children about online sexual abuse but also to make the parents aware about it and to give open sex education to the children. Online education, which has accelerated due to the Covid 19 epidemic, has increased the use of mobile phones among children.

During the discussion, the children said that it is important for parents to monitor their children at home as many children are becoming more and more addicted to mobile phones while taking online education and are also becoming active on social media.
